Oklahoma launches 2026 Onion Burger Trail

Market Development

The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry alongside Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell are celebrating Beef Month with the launch of the 2026 Oklahoma Onion Burger Trail.

The trail highlights dozens of restaurants and diners across our great state and we encourage everyone to get out and try this Oklahoma classic.

“Oklahoma is known for a lot of things but one of the tastiest is the onion burger, created right here in El Reno,” said Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell. “Stop by one of these amazing restaurants and see why Oklahoma is the top onion burger destination in the world.”

Created in the 1920’s, Oklahoma onion burgers have been a staple for both travelers and locals across the state. An authentic onion burger made with a delicious burger patty, smashed in with thinly chopped caramelized onions cooked to perfection represents the essence of Oklahoma.

“May is Beef Month in Oklahoma and we are so excited to highlight Oklahoma’s beef industry with the Oklahoma Onion Burger Trail,” said Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Blayne Arthur. “Beef is a cornerstone of Oklahoma’s agriculture industry and a leader locally, nationally and internationally thanks to the hard work of Oklahoma’s beef producers.”
